This book started with a bang (literally) and just kept going from there. What the author does not realize is fans loved the focus on the romance and what it took to secure it in the previous books, not unnecessary drama. His family was also killed by a car bomb, and he was accused of treason. I would recommend this book to any who enjoy old tales of heroism and powerful emotions. It is good history, with names and some of the stories that have made this part of Texas, but are today seldom remembered.FYI: I have a degree in history, and though I never have done anything with it other that to do reading to enrich my life and understanding of the world in which I live, I know when a work of history is well done. I think his unique perspective is a crucially important one, as far too many Christians still think that sexual orientation is something that can be chosen,
