This is an extremely enjoyable book for those who enjoy the work of Philip Jose Farmer. look for anything further and you, like me, will be sorely disappointed.VOY was an uneven but deeply lovable and often brilliant show, and it deserved a nuanced and insightful treatment. There was also a good amount of space given for tessellation. Seems outdated to me. Wrigley contrasts the limited growth potential of an "organic" economy where productivity will be eventually constrained by negative feedbacks due to the limited resource of wood as an energy source with an "inorganic" economy where this energy bottleneck is absent.In contrast to many other scholars who have focused on how the Industrial Revolution started, Wrigley examines why it didn't sputter out. It doesn't make sense. Otherwise, this is top of my list.. Some were clearly evil criminals, a few of which would be considered serial killers in modern times. But the frustrations he experiences inside "the real Top Gun" are incredible -- like a war inside a war -- because he is apparantly bisexual in the time of "don't ask don't tell" and he's a non-smoker so he's getting taken advantage of by a the chain-smokers in what he calls "my chain of command."
